Hatcher Shipwreck Chinese Porcelain Dragon Wine Cup c1643 Hand painted in cobalt blue with a writhing dragon amongst the clouds protecting a sacred jewel. According to Chinese mythology, the dragon (emperor), guards it's sacred jewel which represents wisdom and purity, from dark sources trying to steal it.

This is the only example that I have available. Pieces from the Hatcher shipwreck are now becoming scarce to acquire. Provenance: The Hatcher Collection, Christies Amsterdam March 14. Size: Height 4.2cm Diameter 5.1cm Condition: Small areas of staining as visible in the images, no chips, cracks or hairlines. The Hatcher Cargo was recovered from the South China seas by Captain Michael Hatcher in 1983.

It was auctioned through four sales held by Christies Amsterdam. Michael Hatcher and his crew recovered around 25,000 pieces of porcelain from the Chinese junk which held a wide diversity and quality, creating great interest.
