Superb 19thc Oval Cantonese Famille Rose Porcelain Drainer

Fabulous 19thc Famille Rose Cantonese Chinese export porcelain oval drainer painted with an abundance of characters and floral designs. The central oval border is filled with colourful court characters, intersected with a narrow white border and floral outer border with colourful flowers and birds.

This is one of three fabulous Chinese drainers we have recently acquired, the other two can be found in our other listings. It was and according to potters still is very difficult to fire a flat large piece of porcelain so that it does not warp or acquire firing flaws. This is flat and minus flaws. To fire this in the 18th century with the technology at the kilns was remarkable, a wonderfully decorative piece that would look great on a stand, wall mounted or married with a larger serving platter.
